Vivienne Segal

Vivienne Sonia Segal (April 19, 1897 – December 29, 1992) was an American actress and singer.

She began her career at the age of 15 with the Philadelphia Operatic Society and made her Broadway debut in The Blue Paradise in 1915. She later became a member of the Ziegfeld Follies and performed on CBS Radio. Segal is perhaps best known for originating the role of Vera Simpson in Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart's Pal Joey, where she introduced the song "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered". She retired from acting in 1966 and received a Donaldson Award for her performance in the revival of Pal Joey in 1952. Segal was married twice, first to actor Robert Ames, and later to television executive Hubbell Robinson, Jr.
