An earlier recording by the Haydn Quartet (see B-3326) also was issued as 16104. EDVR vol. 2 notes: "The Haydn (Hayden) Quartet version was used on 16104 until replaced by a new recording of the same selection by the Peerless Quartet, recorded 10/29/1918 (B-22298-2). However, both general alphabetical and numerical catalogs, and thus presumably the record labels, continued to credit the Hayden Quartet as the artists through 1925, when the record was deleted." |
