Victor ledgers, 9/20/1920: "First recording by this artist—records to be listed in the Black label class." |
Instrumentation listed here appears in Victor ledgers for 9/22/1920 and is assumed to be the same for all of this group's recording sessions during the week of 9/20/1920. The collective personnel listing is from an Archeophone CD. Neither is confirmed. The most evident conflict between the two sources is the number of saxophones present (two listed in Victor ledgers, three listed in the Archeophone CD notes). A second violin is rarely if ever audible on these recordings. It is possible that someone doubled on saxophone and violin. |
