Where can I find a copy of a "trial" recording?

More than 6,000 "trial" recordings made by the Victor Talking Machine Company are documented in DAHR, primarily representing audition recordings by new artists. Some artists later went on to make recordings for Victor that were issued, but many didn’t. If no catalog number is listed for a trial recording, it was not known to have been issued. Samples may have been pressed for evaluation by artists and company staff, but there is no evidence that these were retained by the company. Unfortunately, it is unlikely (but not impossible) that a copy of a particular trial will surface. DAHR editors are not able to assist in your search, but if you locate a copy of a trial, please let us know!
