Brooks/Rust notes that masters 641 through 646 "constitute a miniature minstrel show by a troupe led by Len Spencer, which was known elsewhere as 'The Imperial Minstrels.' Each one opens with 'Gentleman be seated,' followed by an introductory overture, jokes and banter between the interlocutor and endman (generally Len and his brother Harry), and then a performance of the song."
