All takes made during the 9/11/1941 Charlie Barnet Orchestra recording session are numbered in Victor ledgers and the Victor blue history cards as "1R." |
Victor ledgers: "Harry Meyerson present." |
Ledgers indicate that the vocal quintet, Quintones, sing with Ford Leary on this selection. An order from “S.S.” [Stephen Sholes] to replace the group’s name with “quartet” on the disc label is handwritten on the Victor blue history card. An 8/28/1941 Los Angeles Times news item reports that Quintones member Lloyd Hundling died from injuries sustained in the 8/21/1941 car crash that also killed Barnet's guitarist, Bus Etri. |
